Finnish custom agency seized 1,666 bitcoins from drug criminals year ago. The current worth of seized BTC is over $15 million. The agency is struggling to offload the seized cryptocurrencies as it is afraid that BTCs could end up getting back in the hands of criminals.

In an interview, Tulli Director Pekka Pylkkanen said - "From our point of view, the problems are specifically related to the risk of money laundering. The buyers of [cryptocurrency] rarely use them for normal endeavors”.

In 2018, the agency had planned to auction seized virtual coins but eventually dropped the idea due to security concerns.
